Fast Facts:
- Respironics released the world’s first commercially available
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) device in 1985.
- Respironics released the first Bi-level Continuous Positive Airway
Pressure (BiPAP®) device in 1989.
- In April 2002, Respironics acquired Novametrix
Medical Systems, Inc., a leading designer, manufacturer and
marketer of cardiorespiratory monitoring products that improve
patient outcomes. Products include noninvasive monitors, sensors,
and accessories.
- As part of the Novametrix acquisition, Respironics also acquired Children’s
Medical Ventures, a unit that develops and markets developmental
care products and services that improve the quality of care for
premature infants.
- In March 2004, Respironics acquired Caradyne
Ltd., an Ireland-based company that specializes in the design
and manufacture of respiratory therapy equipment with an expertise
in positive pressure ventilation. The company is focused on innovative
noninvasive ventilation devices that can treat a wide range of
adult and pediatric respiratory conditions in both hospital and
pre-hospital settings.

Sleep and Homecare Respiratory
Group
The Sleep and Home Respiratory Group gives Respironics its dominant
position in the home respiratory marketplace. Respironics continues
to drive the markets for sleep apnea, infant jaundice and apnea, chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease and other respiratory afflictions. The
Sleep and Home Respiratory Group holds the number one market share
position in most of our product offerings.
This Group has broadened its product offering and distribution in the
neonatal and pediatric intensive care units of hospitals and also in
the home with the acquisition of Children’s Medical Ventures
which provides developmental care products and services that improve
the quality of care for premature infants.
Division is headquartered in Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA. Manufacturing
facilities are located near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Atlanta, Georgia
and in the Peoples Republic of China and the Philippines.

Critical Care
Respironics has made a major commitment of resources to provide total
ventilation solutions to the hospital market. Respironics has built
an organization comprised of individuals with many years of experience
in research & development and sales & marketing in critical
care ventilation. By focusing our skills and technology specifically
on the needs of the hospital ventilation patient, Respironics is changing
the competitive landscape.
With the recent acquisition of Novametrix, the Hospital Division has
strengthened its global product offering with noninvasive monitoring
technologies that blend well with Respironics’ hospital therapeutic
product offerings, positioning our company to create a total system
of patient ventilation management.

facilities are located in Carlsbad, California and Wallingford, Connecticut.

Respiratory Drug Delivery
The Respiratory Drug Delivery Division is focused on products that
enhance the delivery of respiratory medications for asthma and other
chronic respiratory diseases. This Division sells to hospitals, home
care providers, physicians, pharmacies and consumers. A major focus
of the Respiratory Drug Delivery Division is to provide supplemental
medical education to help patients of all ages improve their quality
of life.
Division is headquartered in the Greater Metropolitan
New York area, in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, USA. Manufacturing
facilities are located near Newark, New Jersey.

International
The International Division takes the products and Programs from the
Homecare, Hospital and Respiratory Drug Delivery Divisions to over
100 countries around the world. Sales & marketing personnel are
positioned in Europe, Central and South America, and the Pacific Rim.
Division is headquartered in Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA.
